Willow Creek Micro Grid + Solar Project

Reliable access to electrical power is essential to the future of energy development in the Uinta Basin, yet infrastructure constraints have historically limited electrification opportunities in many operating areas. To help address this challenge, Finley Resources partnered with Tribal stakeholders to launch the Basin’s first field-scale microgrid project—an innovative solution designed to expand power availability, improve operational efficiency, and support lower-emission development.

Since its launch in 2025, the Willow Creek Microgrid has grown to support nearly 40 producing wells, demonstrating the scalability and effectiveness of distributed energy infrastructure in remote operating environments. By providing dependable power where traditional grid expansion can be difficult or cost-prohibitive, the project is helping unlock new opportunities for responsible resource development throughout the Basin.

The recent addition of on-site solar generation has further enhanced the system’s performance and sustainability. By reducing reliance on conventional power generation, the solar component lowers fuel consumption, decreases emissions, and improves overall operating efficiency while increasing the resilience of the microgrid.

More than an infrastructure project, the Willow Creek Microgrid reflects Finley’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and long-term stewardship. Through partnerships with Tribal stakeholders and continued investment in forward-thinking technologies, Finley is helping build the energy infrastructure needed to support the Uinta Basin’s future while creating lasting value for local communities and industry partners alike.
