Brent Talbot

Brent Talbot has spent over 33 years in the oil and gas industry and has amassed significant skill, knowledge and expertise in production and operations engineering. His management skills as well as his ability to work with people from all areas of the industry contribute to his ability to move a company forward to reach goals and production targets.

While in school at Louisiana State University, Brent began what would be a 15 year career at Sun Oil, gaining experience in the field as a roustabout and young engineer onshore and offshore and finally in the office preparing to make a life-long commitment to the oil industry.


After graduating from LSU in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering, Brent went to work for Sun Oil as a Production Engineer. He was responsible for operations in onshore and inland waters in LaFourche and Terrebonne Parishes in Louisiana. In 1988, Sun moved Brent to Houston to head up operations in Chambers and Jefferson Counties, Texas. When Sun Oil became Oryx Energy in 1989, Brent moved to Midland to oversee operations in Howard, Glasscock, Garza, and Upton Counties.

After a brief stint in Oklahoma City in 1991, Oryx moved Brent to the main office in Dallas to manage operations in the Permian Basin. While at Oryx, Brent served on the Rod Pumping Standards Development Committee. Brent has utilized the full breadth of field experience he

gained early in his career to guide operations and production.

In 1994, Brent left Oryx to join Duer Wagner & Co. in Fort Worth. He began work there as Operations Engineer, responsible for operations from Florida to the Rio Grande Valley. In 1996, Brent was promoted to Vice President of Operations at Duer Wagner & Co. and remained in that role until September of 2004. In October, 2004, Brent joined Finley Resources as Vice President of Engineering Operations. In 2005, Brent was named President of FRI.

Brent is active in the community serving as Co-Chair of the annual North Texas Boys and Girls Crawfish Boil, member of Fort Worth Wildcatters and AAPA.
