Jim Finley

Jim graduated in 1979 from the University of Texas School of Business with a B.B.A. in Accounting.  He began his career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen & Co., working primarily with oil and gas clients.  In 1981, Jim joined Duer Wagner & Co. as Chief Financial Officer and, during his seventeen year tenure, he became managing partner of the company, guiding the company into a strategy of acquiring producing oil and gas properties.

In 1998, Jim began business on his own in Fort Worth, continuing with the same strategy and model, emphasizing buying producing oil and gas properties, and established Finley Resources Inc. as an operator.  

Finley Production Co., LP was formed at the end of 2009, being capitalized with oil and gas properties and three partnerships previously

owned directly by Jim, as well as taking on the oil and gas debt previously owed personally by Jim. Finley Resources, Finley Production and the partnerships (collectively the "Finley Resources Group") own interests in approximately 2,500 wells in thirteen states.  Finley Resources now operates about 900 of those wells in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kansas, Wyoming and Utah.  Finley Resources has 85 employees.

Jim and Charlotte Finley own, in addition to the Finley Resources Group, Mesa Well Servicing, LP, based in Hobbs, New Mexico, with offices in Odessa, Texas and Farmington, New Mexico, and Mesa Southern, based in Jourdanton, Texas, with offices in Carrizo Springs and Victoria, Texas.

Together, Mesa and Mesa Southern own 60 well service rigs and employ more than 340 people. Jim and Charlotte also own Slick Rod Systems, LLC, which sells, installs and services

continuous sucker rod in the San Juan and Permian Basins, and ATD, LLC ("Air Tech") which supplies air drilling equipment from Hobbs, New Mexico.  Jim also owns Pecos Transport, based in Orla, TX, and a 47% interest in a commercial water disposal facility in western Tarrant County.

Other investments include ownership positions in several Texas community banks as well as commercial and residential real estate holdings in Texas and Germany.

Jim is active on the boards of various public and private companies as well as several non-profit organizations. Current board positions include Southwest Bank, Downtown Fort Worth, Inc., the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Worth, The University of Texas College of Natural Sciences, Advisory Board and the Board of Visitors of the McDonald Observatory.
